Sending my prayers...

March 11, 2011, A 8.9 earthquake shook Japan, and the earthquake cause a massive Tsunami which swallowed the coast with its 10 meter high waves. It was shocking to hear, and even more so to see on the news and read about. It brought back feelings from when that earthquake happened in Haiti. I can't imagine going through a natural disaster like that. When I lived with my dad years ago, a tornado hit near our house. that was VERY scary, and quite a bit of damage was done, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. Haiti and now Japan, and many other places that are affected by major natural disasters, loose not only belongings ... but lives.

All of the victims of these disasters will always be in my thoughts. What happened in Japan just mere days ago is devastating and I cannot even begin to express my sadness. My heart goes out to all who were there.

I am a fan on facebook of a page called "mother of a sale". They hold amazing sales daily on products for mom and baby. Today, they are raising money that will be donated to The Canadian Red Cross . All proceeds from todays sale, will be donated to help in the relief for Japan.

Mother of a Sale: Japan Donation Project

All will be in my thoughts.

Practice Makes Perfect!

So in my search to make my own "perfect" pattern for the diapers I will be making and selling, I have been making diapers out of scrap matierials, old t-shirts, etc... to gain practice!

The rounded, or pointed wings don't really work for me, I prefer the square ones. And I also found that adding the elastic isn't as hard as I thought! Just takes some practice!

Things are still a little uneven but as I said.... Practice makes perfect!!!

Watch this awesome video I found (a spoof on sham-wow!) on why YOU can, and should be cloth diapering your babies!

We All Love Fluff Mail!!!

All you who cloth diaper know what I am talking about!

When you place an order for some new cloth diapers (maybe plain or with really cute designs) and you are left anxiously waiting for their arrival several days (we'll wait even WEEKS!) for our fluff mail! And then it arrives...oh the joy!!!

The great part is after looking at all your cute new diapers, you have to prep them. And there are severals ways to do it. What I do is wash 4-5 times (using diaper-safe detergent each time) rinse twice then dry twice. This... takes a long time but it is worth the trouble!

Now for fluff mail pictures!!! I ordered 6 diapers for my son, and 9 for my sister so together we wouldn't have to pay shipping on our combined large order :)

Although cloth diapers are bulky.. they sure are CUTE!

Another new thing today, I made my own pocket diaper for the first time! I bought some bamboo velour from a wonderful lady in town, and she was nice enough to give me a bunch of scraps, and even a couple peices of fleece that were pre-cut for a diaper! :) Used them to practice and I'm quite proud of myself!

I used dark thread because I was practicing, and messed up a couple times, but overall, not too bad for my first (real) diaper!

Ciao for now!
